No day is complete without the consumption of something spirited and what better way to end the day than with a scotch, whiskey, vodka or gin? Preferably in that order 😉
In the wintertime I used to have a preference for Vodka but our tiny freezer put a stop to that in lieu of having a lot of meat instead. But I’ll have vodka reviews up shortly. And lastly, you can’t have liquor without Bourbon! The magical drink of the south, a fine sweetness to it with a unique flavor that says, “it’s Summertime!”
Like the Cigars page, I’ll list favorites only here and save the reviews for the main blog page.
Oh and I might do an absinthe review soon too 🙂
Right now we’re currently enjoying the following:
Sirious Vodka – Picked this up (will review shortly) from Grocery Outlet for $9 for 750 ml bottle, it retails for $40. A very clean vodka with a viscous pour and light finish. The retail on this is about $40.
Veloce/Dimmi – A product I was introduced to a few years back, this liquor di milano is an Italian blend of herbs with a grappa base. Very smooth served with two ice cubes and a slice of lemon, or on the rocks, the flavors strike of sweetness such as cotton candy. $40 for a 750 ml bottle.
The Dalmore – A single malt scotch that’s clean with caramel notes and a smooth finish retails for just under $20 for a 750 ml bottle. Perfect for cigar smokers.
The Lismore – a slightly more inexpensive version of the Dalmore, with a lighter color and an aromatic nose of wood and slight peat but still not an Islay. Roughly $15 for a 750 ml bottle
Four Roses Red Label – Bourbon that is very light and floral. We did a review of this back last year and you can find it here
Demarara Rum – Aged 5 years, this rum is a premium rum with flavors of vanilla, oak and hints of spice. A little heat compliments the finish.
Remy Martin VSOP – No Indulgence is complete without cognac. This particular cognac out of the Champagne region of Cognac in France is consistent, well blended and has notes of caramel, heavy oak and a floral nose. It also develops in the glass, suggesting a very complex drink. $32 a bottle.
